Our Environmental Responsibility

We proactively protect, respect, and safeguard the environment and climate in our daily business activities by development of energy efficient production methods and products.

Environment

We support a precautionary approach to environmental and climate challenges. We drive initiatives to promote greater responsibility and encourage the development and diffusion of environmental and climate-friendly technologies.

Improved water efficiency is a high focus at Hartmann, and we continue to increase the amount of recycled water in our production processes. We test the possibilities of closing the loop and reducing wastewater discharge. Biodegradable moulded-fibre packaging produced from recycled paper is the foundation for our business.

Moulded fibre is biodegradable and can be recycled after use. Click here to find 10 good reasons for moulded fibre.

Reducing our CO2e emissions by 50% in 2030

We remain committed to reducing the environmental footprint of our products and value chain, and we invest in new technologies necessary to reach those ambitions.

In 2023, we established our technology competence centre in Kolding, an attractive city in Denmark for corporate businesses, to design efficient technology solutions for reducing energy consumption and related CO2e-emmissions at our plants.

We commit to reduce absolute scope 1 and 2 CO2e emissions and relative Scope 3 CO2e emissions by 50% by 2030 from a 2021 base year.

Drive positive climate change with the Science Based Targets initiative

We are committed to the globally-recognised Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). Our near-term science-based target has been validated and SBTi has classified our scope 1 and 2 target ambition is in line with 1.5C trajectory. Read more
