Our egg-producing customer, La Masera recently got the honour of providing the eggs for the Italian launch of the international movement “Chi è il padrone?! La marca del consumatore“ (Who is the boss?! A consumer’s brand).
And who did they turn to for environmentally friendly packaging? That’s right - your friendly global packaging experts, Hartmann (thanks to a very kind introduction from our Italian wholesaler Techovo).
The movement was founded in France in 2016, with the aim of putting consumers back at the centre and empowering them to play an active role in the food chain. The organisation surveys consumers about their preference on such things as product origin, packaging and price in order to prioritise what matters most to them.
To this end, they spoke to 2,350 Italian consumers, who collectively demanded eggs of 100% Italian origin, from organic free-range chickens, along with the protection of male chicks and fair remuneration for farmers.
The participants in the Italian survey were also asked about their preferences for packaging material – and more than 80% stipulated that it should be sustainable. Not only in terms of the materials used, but also that the production process should be carbon neutral.
And of course, that’s exactly what Hartmann does. So we were pleased to offer La Masera our environmentally friendly egg packaging made from 100% recyclable, renewable and biodegradable moulded fibre. It's also completely carbon neutral – which means all the emissions created in the production process are offset with projects by ClimatePartner.
Branded for the Italian market, the eggs from “Chi è il padrone?! La marca del consumatore“ are sold in our imagic2® for 6 eggs, through Carrefour supermarkets.
"We’re pleased to be part of this project because we share a common goal: that of promoting responsible purchasing decisions for environmentally friendly products. Hartmann’s carbon neutral egg cartons are the perfect packaging for the project. It enables us to meet the needs of Italian consumers from every perspective.”
