Leadership Beyond the Workplace: Supporting the Next Generation Through Mentorship
Mike McGriff, Director of Sales and Marketing, takes his leadership outside of the workplace and into his church community.
At Hartmann North America, leadership is not defined solely by titles or responsibilities. It is also reflected in how our team members invest in others—both inside and outside the workplace.
For Mike McGriff, Director of Sales and Marketing, that investment extends far beyond business strategy and customer relationships. Outside of work, Mike dedicates his time to mentoring middle school students through his church’s youth ministry.
As a small group leader, Mike walks alongside students as they navigate important stages of growth and personal development. Most recently, he volunteered as a leader for a sixth-grade Bible Camp weekend, facilitating activities, connecting with students, and helping create a meaningful experience for everyone involved.
Mike’s involvement provides students with a steady presence—someone who listens, offers guidance, and models positive leadership. For many young people, relationships like these can have a lasting impact, helping shape the confidence, decision-making skills, and personal values they carry into adulthood.
The qualities that make Mike effective as a mentor are also central to his professional leadership: patience, empathy, encouragement, and a genuine commitment to helping others succeed.
At Hartmann, we believe strong organizations are built by people who care about more than results alone. Leaders who invest in their communities bring broader perspectives, stronger collaboration skills, and a deeper sense of purpose to their work—qualities that ultimately benefit our teams, our customers, and the industry we serve.
Mike’s dedication to mentoring students is a meaningful example of how professional leadership and personal values can align to create a positive impact. By supporting the next generation, he is helping young people develop the confidence and character they will need to become leaders in their own communities.
We are proud to recognize team members who contribute their time and energy to strengthening the communities around them. Mike’s commitment to mentorship is a powerful reminder that leadership is not defined only by what we accomplish, but also by the people we help along the way.
