Hartmann returns home to Lyngby

More than a century after Hartmann was founded in Lyngby, Denmark, the company has officially opened its new headquarters in the town where its story began. The homecoming was celebrated with colleagues, owners, partners and friends of Hartmann – marking both a return to the company’s roots and the beginning of a new chapter.

Hartmann was founded in Lyngby, north of Copenhagen, in 1917. From here, the company began the journey that would transform it into the international organisation it is today.

Over the decades, Hartmann’s operations evolved and expanded. Danish production relocated to Tønder, while the headquarters remained in Lyngby until 2008, when it moved to Gentofte.

In 2023, Hartmann acquired the property at Ørholmvej 57 with the ambition of returning its headquarters to the company’s birthplace. Following an extensive transformation, the building is now ready to serve as the new home of Hartmann’s global organisation.

After 18 years away, Hartmann’s headquarters is once again in Lyngby.

Celebrating the homecoming

The return was officially celebrated on 27 August, when colleagues, owners, partners, former colleagues and friends of Hartmann gathered at the new headquarters.

The Mayor of Lyngby-Taarbæk, Sofia Osmani, arrived in a remarkable piece of Hartmann history: the Rolls-Royce that served as the company’s executive car from 1962 to 1978.

CEO Torben Rosenkrantz-Theil, owner Christian Stadil and Sofia Osmani addressed the guests. The official opening followed as Torben Rosenkrantz-Theil, Christian Stadil, Thor Stadil, Sofia Osmani and Chairman Henrik Marinus Pedersen cut the red ribbon together.

A piece of Hartmann history returns

The Rolls-Royce provided a special link between Hartmann’s past and present. Originally sold to Brødrene Hartmann on 17 March 1962, it served as the company’s executive car for 16 years and still carries its original KE 36101 licence plates.

Today, the privately owned car has been carefully preserved. Seeing it pull up outside Hartmann in Lyngby, 64 years after it first became part of the company’s history, was a fitting moment on a day celebrating both Hartmann’s heritage and its future.

Rooted in history, built for the future

Returning to Lyngby is about more than moving into a new building. The new headquarters brings Hartmann’s history together with the company it is today – and its ambitions for the future.

Designed to bring people together and encourage collaboration, the headquarters will provide a welcoming home for colleagues, customers and partners from across Hartmann’s global organisation.

Although the headquarters is in Lyngby, Hartmann remains a global company. Its colleagues and operations around the world are central to its success, and the new headquarters will help support and connect the organisation across countries and continents.

Hartmann looks forward to welcoming visitors from around the world to Ørholmvej – and to writing the next chapter of its story in the place where it all began.
